Latest E-Disk 3S320 Innovation Doubles the Performance of Its Older SCSI Ultra Wide Technology with a Staggering 320 MB/sec Burst Rate, Up to 68 MB/sec Sustained Rates and Up to 12,500 IOPS.

Washington, DC - October 26, 2004 - Reinforcing its undisputed technology leadership in the solid state disk industry, BiTMICRO®® Networks today announced at Association of the United State Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting 2004 being held October 25-27, 2004 at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC its achievement of another major industry milestone with its recent shipment of the E-Disk® 3S320D - the world's first Ultra320 SCSI solid state flash disk drive.

The E-Disk® 3S320D flash-based solid state disk drive conforms to the ANSI SCSI-3 SPI-4 standards. Like its predecessors, this new version of the Ultra Wide SCSI flash disk is ideal for embedded and applied computing applications that require high reliability, performance, data security, and ruggedness, such as telecom infrastructure network elements, pipeline monitoring, digital mapping, financial on-line transactions, and homeland defense security. U320 SCSI offers twice the speed (320 MB/sec burst rate) and greater reliability than the Ultra160 SCSI interface.

Fast and Secure Data Storage

The E-Disk® Ultra320 SCSI is OS independent and features up to 42 µsec access time and a maximum IOPS of 12,500. Sustained Rate is 68 MB/sec (max) and Burst Rate is 320 MB/sec (max). This pure solid state/non-volatile drive can handle operating shock of up to 1500 Gs and extreme temperatures from -40 to +85°C. MTBF is 2 million hours.

Available in a 3.5-inch form factor, maximum capacity for the E-Disk® Ultra320 SCSI is pegged at 155 GB. The drive has a half pitch DB68 connector compliant with SCSI ANSI standards, does not require any device driver, and is completely bootable.

Operating Systems Compatibilities

The E-Disk Ultra320 SCSI product line is fully compatible with major platforms such as Linux, Solaris, Windows, MacOS and LynxOS, AIX, FreeBSD, HP-UX, IRIX, NetBSD, OS/2, QNX, VxWorks, SCO Unixware and Open Server, Solaris x86, and Tru64.

Faster and more reliable than previous versions of SCSI, Ultra320 offers packetized SCSI, an innovative protocol that creates a more efficient method of transferring commands, messages, status, and data between SCSI devices. Other key features include skew compensation, domain validation, double-transition data transfers, free-running clock and cyclic redundancy check.
