Offering Up to 112,000 IOPS and Sustained Transfer Rates of Up to 681 MB/sec, BiTMICRO-QLogic Synergy Creates the Latest Best-of-Breed Storage Networking Solution for Demanding Enterprise Applications

FREMONT, Calif. - July 7, 2004 - BiTMICRO® Networks, a pioneer in intelligent flash IDE/ATA, SCSI, USB, VME, PMC, CompactPCI, FireWire, Ethernet, and Fibre Channel solid state storage solutions, today announced the qualification of its E-Disk®SAN S2F-J with the QLA2340 and QLA2342 host bus adapters (HBAs) from QLogic Corp. (NASDAQ:QLGC).

QLogic's single-port QLA2340 and the dual-port QLA2342 are 64-bit, 133MHz PCI-X to Fibre Channel HBAs that offer 2 Gb performance for SAN and other Fibre Channel applications. On the other hand, the E-Disk®SAN S2F-J is the foundation of BiTMICRO's 2U rackmount Fibre Channel solid state disk (SSD) product line. With dual power supplies, redundant cooling fans, and embedded loop resiliency circuits on the disk I/O cards, the S2F-J has complete enclosure redundancy. It is perfect for environments that have expanding data storage requirements and can be upgraded to RAID or utilized as an expansion drive shelf behind another E-Disk®SAN Fibre Channel RAID system.

Benchmark tests were conducted at BiTMICRO's state-of-the-art facilities in Fremont, California. Using a SuperMicro SuperServer with a dual Xeon 2.6 GHz CPU and 1 GB DDR-266 memory as host, lab engineers attached a QLogic dual-port QLA2342 to an E-Disk®SAN S2F-J equipped with twelve 2 Gb E-Disk® Fibre Channel SSDs. IOmeter test results show that both products were able to deliver an outstanding 112,000 IOPS (max), sequential read rates of up to 681 MB/sec and sequential write rates of up to 403 MB/sec. Sustained random rates peaked at 560 MB/sec for reads and 257 MB/sec for writes.
